Travis Kelce’s next-door neighbor, Wes Bergmann, is stirring up discussion about the early days of the NFL star’s relationship with Taylor Swift—claiming the couple had been together long before they made their first public appearance.

Bergmann, 41, shared his insights on The Social Game Podcast with hosts Michele Fitzgerald and Kellie Nalbandian. During the conversation, Nalbandian pointed out that one of the first things she learned about Bergmann was that he lived next to Kelce, 35, in the exclusive gated community of Leawood, Kansas City.

According to Bergmann, he knew about Kelce and Swift’s relationship months before the public did. “He’s an enigma—on one hand, he’s this big, tough football player,” Bergmann said of Kelce. “On the other, he’s going to have about 12 Taylor Swift songs written about him.”

The reality TV star, known for The Traitors and The Challenge, revealed that when he first told Survivor winner Fitzgerald about the romance, she didn’t believe him.

“I was one of the first people to know about this, and I tried to tell this woman [Fitzgerald] a long time ago,” Bergmann recalled. “I told her, ‘They are together, just so you know,’ and she didn’t believe it.”

Fitzgerald explained her skepticism, noting that Swift typically dated “brooding artists” rather than an “all-American football player” like Kelce. “She loves a brooding artist—usually they’re a bit scrawnier, kind of womanizers in a lot of ways. And then you have him, who seems chivalrous and has just been winning and crushing,” she added.

Bergmann insisted he had known about their romance “about six months” before Swift started attending Kelce’s games. Nalbandian even dubbed him the “winner of girly chat” for being among the first to know.

Swift and Kelce’s dating rumors gained momentum after the Blank Space singer was spotted at one of his games in September 2023. Before Kelce, Swift was briefly linked to The 1975 frontman Matty Healy, with PEOPLE confirming their split on June 5, 2023. Meanwhile, Kelce had previously dated fitness model Kayla Nicole.

Swift and Kelce officially went public in October 2023 when they were seen together at a Saturday Night Live afterparty.

In a December 2023 interview with Time, Swift confirmed that their relationship had been private for some time before she first attended Kelce’s game.
