While many sports stars use their prize money to enjoy their victories, Shohei Ohtani – the humble icon of MLB and the Los Angeles Dodgers – has chosen a different path. According to recent information, he has pledged to invest all $ 695,000 of his World Series prize money to build a free school for children who are passionate about baseball but lack the conditions to develop.

“I was a kid with nothing but a dream and an old glove. I want other kids to have the same opportunity as I had,” – Ohtani shared.

The school is expected to be built in Ohtani’s hometown in Japan, with the goal of combining cultural education with intensive baseball training. The project will be called “Dream Diamond”, inspired by Ohtani’s life philosophy: “Dreams are the only thing that can’t be taken away, unless you give it up.”

The school will be completely free, enrolling students from disadvantaged backgrounds, especially those with potential in baseball but lacking the finances to pursue a professional career.

This is not the first time Shohei Ohtani has carried out such meaningful community actions. He has donated millions of dollars to medical funds, supported children after natural disasters, and always quietly did charity work without fanfare.

What is special about Ohtani is that his humility and kindness are as great as his magical hitting and pitching skills on the field. In a world full of lights, he still chooses to step back to support others.

Community reaction: “He is not just an MVP, he is a living symbol”
When news of this charitable commitment spread on social media, fans around the world – especially in Japan and the US – expressed their absolute admiration. MLB fan forums have called him an “unsung hero,” and many parents have shared that their children “want to be like Ohtani, not just a player like Ohtani.”

In sports, we remember the titles, records, and great moments. But sometimes, the things we admire most don’t come from the field, but from the heart.
