Shari Franke — the oldest daughter of convicted child abuser Ruby Franke — said she “had an anxiety attack” after seeing the trailer for the film
Ruby Franke’s daughter Shari Franke is speaking out about the upcoming Lifetime movie based on the tragic events surrounding her family.
Shari — the oldest daughter of convicted child abuser Ruby, 42 — shared a post on her Instagram Stories on Friday, Oct. 4, in which she reacted to watching the trailer for Mormon Mom Gone Wrong: The Ruby Franke Story, which follows her mom’s arrest and conviction in 2023.
“I saw the trailer suddenly in class and had an anxiety attack,” Shari wrote. She then claimed, “None of us were contacted about the movie. None of the proceeds are going to the kids,” referring to herself and her five siblings.
“This movie is trash, and only hurts my siblings more,” Shari continued, before she asked her followers, “Please do not support this movie.”
In Mormon Mom Gone Wrong: The Ruby Franke Story, Emilie Ullerup stars as the once-popular family vlogger Ruby, while Heather Locklear portrays her business partner, Jodi Hildebrandt.
Ruby and Hildebrandt were charged with child abuse in Sept. 2023, after Ruby’s then 12-year-old son Russell escaped “emaciated” from Hildebrandt’s Utah home with visible wounds and tape marks on his wrists and ankles. He then asked a neighbor to “take me to the nearest police station,” according to Ring camera footage.
Eve, Ruby’s then-9-year-old daughter, was also found in “a similar physical condition of malnourishment” at Hildebrandt’s home.
Ruby pleaded guilty to four counts of child abuse in December 2023.
On Feb. 20, Ruby and Hildebrandt were sentenced to four to 60 years in prison after four convictions each of aggravated child abuse.
