Rihanna, the global superstar and business mogul, was recently spotted showcasing her culinary talents while making pancakes at a pop-up stall during an event for her beauty brand, Fenty, in Shanghai. The singer, 36, has been in the city on a business trip to promote her beauty empire and makeup products.
Her visit to Shanghai follows Fenty’s official entry into the mainland China market via Sephora earlier this year in February. The event took place at the Shanghai Photography Museum on Tuesday evening, where Rihanna was seen demonstrating her cookery skills. She was filmed spreading batter on the griddle before topping it with an egg, spring onions, and other ingredients to make jianbing, a popular Chinese breakfast pancake.
Jianbing is believed to have originated from the Shandong province more than 2,000 years ago. Interestingly, Rihanna’s nickname in China is “Queen of Shandong.” When asked about her cooking experience, Rihanna said, “I love to cook. It was cool because I never got to make that before so I was learning.”
Rihanna looked effortlessly stylish in a black PVC trench coat, which she paired with matching gloves, studded heels, blonde locks, stylish shades, a slick of red lipstick, and a diamond necklace.
The entertainer, who has a net worth of $1.4 billion, combines her successful music career with her beauty brand, Fenty Beauty, and lingerie label, Savage X Fenty. Her visit to China marks a significant business move, as China is now the second-largest beauty market in the world, behind the US.
In an announcement video, Rihanna expressed her excitement about Fenty Beauty’s expansion into China. She said, “China – I am thrilled to share the great news… on April 1, Fenty Beauty will officially land. China has such a rich culture that has always inspired me, and I cannot wait to share Fenty Beauty with all of you, celebrating your unique beauty. Thank you guys so much for making my dream come true and I can’t wait to see you soon.”
Rihanna’s success with Fenty Beauty has significantly contributed to her becoming the youngest self-made female billionaire in America. Her estimated net worth is around $1.4 billion, largely due to the triumph of her cosmetics company.
The event, featuring a jianbing stall and Rihanna’s engaging presence, highlighted her multifaceted talent and business acumen, further solidifying her influence in both the entertainment and beauty industries.
