Sara Rivers Files $60 Million Lawsuit Against Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, Accusing Sexual Harassment and Abuse

SARA RIVERS; Diddy

Sara Rivers, who appeared on Making the Band and was a member of Da Band, has filed a $60 million lawsuit against Sean “Diddy” Combs, accusing him of sexual harassment, assault, and creating an abusive work environment during her time on the MTV reality show. The lawsuit was filed on February 28, the last day to submit claims under New York City’s Gender Motivated Violence Act.

In the 148-page complaint, Rivers, who went by Sara Stokes on the show, alleges that Combs made unwanted sexual advances, including backing her into a corner and touching her inappropriately while making suggestive comments. She claims that Combs also made threats to members of the group and created an “inhumane” working environment, including controlling her eating and sleeping habits, mocking her for her bulimia, and scrutinizing her appearance in a sexual and humiliating way.

Rivers further accuses Combs of making physical threats towards others, including threatening violence against group members, and alleges that she was subjected to uncompensated manual labor, referencing the infamous cheesecake episode where she and her bandmates were forced to walk from Manhattan to Brooklyn to bring Combs a cheesecake.

Rivers also claims that after three seasons of Making the Band, she and her bandmates were only paid a flat $5,000 per show and were given little compensation beyond a per diem. Additionally, she claims she was pressured into signing a publishing contract for a one-time payment of $25,000 under the threat that the group would not continue without her signature.

In response to the lawsuit, a representative for Combs denied the allegations, calling them “false claims” and asserting that Rivers’ lawsuit is just another example of meritless accusations. “No matter how many lawsuits are filed, it won’t change the fact that Mr. Combs has never sexually assaulted or sex trafficked anyone—man or woman, adult or minor,” the representative said.

The lawsuit comes as Combs faces multiple accusations of sexual misconduct, which he has denied. He is also facing federal criminal charges, including sex trafficking and transportation to engage in prostitution, to which he has pleaded not guilty. On the same day Rivers filed her lawsuit, 14 additional complaints were made against Combs, including accusations from both men and women.
