Dua Lipa is, as always, switching things up. A trendsetter, if you will. The singer hopped on the corset trend that so many celebs have been loving — including Dove Cameron’s broken heart corset, Olivia Rodrigo’s tour outfits, Bella Hadid, and Billie Eilish wearing corsets at the Met Gala — but Dua decided to put her own style spin on the look.
Dua Lipa took to Instagram to post a pH๏τo dump from her time in Florence, captioning it, “ci vediamo firenze 💋” and showing off paintings, architecture, and totally dreamy views along with her OOTD. The singer wore a cream lace-up corset but left the front strings loosely laced, a styling trick that we haven’t seen yet, but are so here for. Her strapless top featured tan lining around the edges with eyelets to lace up the shirt, and tiny mesh detailing at the bodice.
Dua kept things breathable and comfy with a pair of white slouchy jeans with tan suede slashes at the hips and waist. She wore her dark hair down and went for a natural, flushed makeup look with her signature bold brow. The singer added a delicate necklace, a thin watch, some cocktail rings, and a stud in her belly ʙuттon piercing to finish off her look.
Dua Lipa loves a corset (especially when it’s part of a catsuit) but this roomy corset is unlike anything we’ve ever seen the singer wear before. Her comfortable top makes a statement about a clothing item that used to be incredibly restrictive and damaging for women who wore them to achieve a smaller waist — even though the corset look has been coming back in style at full force, Dua Lipa’s outfit insists that we don’t need to bring back the ribcage-deforming, waist-crushing silhouette to enjoy the aesthetic.
In fact, the corset doesn’t even need to be тιԍнтly laced up at all. Anyone can experiment with the fashion trend for its look, rather than trying to force a certain body type or silhouette. Plus, the slightly unlaced corset has a sort of je ne sais quoi to it that’s pretty fabulous.
It’s SO good, Dua — please keep the ‘fit posts coming!
