Puppy beaten blind gets happy ending

March 21, 2024 by Pham Hien

Rescued by the RSPCA following a brutal beating that left him blind, Oliver, a cane corso puppy, has defied the odds and secured his forever home.

In August 2023, a member of the public brought Oliver to the Hendon PDSA Pet Hospital, where he was in a collapsed state, showing clear signs of abuse. The pup had been beaten to the point of blindness and neurological damage. After treatment he was transferred to RSPCA Leybourne, where he went on to make a remarkable recovery, and has now gone on to a new home.

RSPCA Leybourne animal care assistant Adam Tasker says, “Oliver is a young dog full of life, despite having a rough start in life he is a sweet and endearing soul who actively seeks attention and a fuss from his handlers.

“It means the world to all the staff here at the centre that he has landed himself a new home where he will get to live his life from this day on finally being able to experience real love in a warm caring home for the first time.”

Oliver’s new owner, whose name was withheld, says, “We feel so proud to own Oliver, he really is a dog with the biggest heart. He is a goofy dog with big paws and he gives the best cuddles. For a dog that had such a traumatic start we can’t believe how loving  he is. We are privileged to have him as part of our family.”

The RSPCA is calling for anyone with information about this dog’s previous owner to contact the charity in complete confidence on 0300 123 8018.
