How Ravens free-agent signing of DeAndre Hopkins was graded by NFL experts image

The Baltimore Ravens have made their second significant move of the offseason after the team reportedly agreed to a deal with veteran wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Baltimore is signing Hopkins to a one-year, $5 million deal that could go up with as much as $6 million, likely with incentives.

Hopkins started the 2024 campaign with the Tennessee Titans, with whom he played for a season-plus. Tennessee then turned around and traded Hopkins to the Kansas City Chiefs, where he saw his season end with a Super Bowl loss.

Hopkins had his worst season as a pro in 2024, posting 610 yards and five scores, with 437 of those yards and four of those touchdowns coming with the Chiefs.

Hopkins isn’t the elite receiver he once was, but he’s a solid depth option behind Zay Flowers and Rashod Bateman, and especially for that price.

Here’s a look at how experts view the Hopkins signing for the Ravens.

DeAndre Hopkins free agency grades

Tyler Brooke, The 33rd Team: B

Brooke: “The Baltimore Ravens land a big-bodied veteran receiver in DeAndre Hopkins on a one-year, $6 million deal. Don’t expect Hopkins to be a star in Baltimore’s offense at 32 years old, but he at least provides some depth at a position the Ravens have struggled to get right over the years.”

Moe Moton, Bleacher Report: C

Moton: “At this stage in Hopkins’ career, he has to pick his spots, and the 12-year veteran can do that in the Baltimore Ravens offense with running back Derrick Henry carrying a heavy workload. Quarterback Lamar Jackson doesn’t have to rely heavily on Hopkins in the passing game either. Zay Flowers, Rashod Bateman and Mark Andrews will see most of the targets. Isaiah Likely is coming along as Andrews’ backup. Don’t expect Hopkins to turn back the clock with 1,000-plus receiving yards in an offense that ranked 31st in passing attempts last season. The Ravens made this move for the playoffs, though it’s not a foregone conclusion that the veteran receiver can help them on a deep run.”
