Adam Devine has played many roles in his career, but his favorite one yet is being a dad.
The Pitch Perfect star, 41, recently opened up to PEOPLE at the season 4 premiere of The Righteous Gemstones, sharing how much he’s loving life as a new father. Devine and his wife, actress Chloe Bridges, 33, welcomed their son, Beau, on February 16, 2024.
“He’s just so cute,” Devine gushed. “Every day is like a new adventure.”
Becoming a Dad at 40: ‘I Was Ready’
Devine admitted that some of his friends had tried to warn him about the challenges of parenthood.
“They tried to scare me out of it,” he joked. “They were like, ‘Your life’s over, your life’s going to suck.’”
But for Devine, waiting until he was 40 to have a child meant he was fully prepared. “I was ready for my life to be over,” he laughed. “I was sitting in a bar on a Tuesday, thinking, ‘What am I doing here? This is depressing.’”
‘I Wish I Had Kids Sooner’
Devine, who married Bridges in October 2021, has been vocal about how much fatherhood has changed his perspective. In a January interview with PEOPLE, he shared that he wished he had become a dad earlier.
“I love it, and I want to have 11 of them,” he joked. “But my wife is like, ‘Two,’ and I’m like, ‘Four?’ and she’s like, ‘Two,’ so we’ll see how that goes.”
Despite the playful back-and-forth, Devine made it clear how much joy little Beau has brought to his life.
A Hilarious Birth Announcement
Devine and Bridges first revealed they were expecting in October 2023 with a joint Instagram post, excitedly announcing, “Look, we’re pregnant!”
When Beau was born in March 2024, the couple shared the big news with a humorous family photo—both parents and baby crying.
“Meet lil baby Beau Devine!” Devine captioned the post. “He can be fussy at times, but we’ve already learned some great parenting techniques. Do your best fussy baby impression along with him, and he’ll straighten right out.”
Father’s Day Tribute to His Own Dad
Last June, Devine marked his first Father’s Day with a sweet Instagram post featuring baby Beau and his own father, Dennis.
“Being a dad has been the best experience of my life, and I’ve learned from the best,” he wrote.
As Devine continues to embrace fatherhood, one thing is clear—he’s loving every moment of this new adventure.
