Natania Reuben, a woman who was shot in the face at a New York City nightclub in 1999, has spoken out about Sean “Diddy” Combs’s recent arrest, calling it “one of the best days ever.” Reuben was one of three people injured in the shooting that occurred at Club New York, where Diddy, then known as Puffy, was present along with his then-girlfriend Jennifer Lopez. Reuben survived the incident, though she was left with a traumatic brain injury.

Diddy was acquitted in the 2001 trial related to the shooting, but Reuben has long maintained that she saw him with the gun during the altercation. Though Diddy was cleared of charges, the case has resurfaced in light of his recent arrest on charges of sex trafficking and racketeering, which he denies. Reuben expressed hope that justice might finally be served, even if not directly in her case.

The infamous 1999 shooting also involved Diddy’s bodyguard Anthony “Wolf” Jones and rapper Shyne, who was convicted of assault and gun possession and served 10 years in prison. Charges against Jennifer Lopez were dropped, and she has denied any wrongdoing.

Reuben has lived with lasting consequences from the shooting, including brain scarring, and has expressed relief at Diddy’s arrest. She isn’t the only person to celebrate the news; former Danity Kane member Aubrey O’Day also called it “a win for women all over the world.” O’Day is among several people who have filed lawsuits against Diddy, accusing him of sexual misconduct.

Despite the growing number of accusations, Diddy continues to deny all charges, insisting that the allegations are unfounded.
