Two Irish brothers scooped up an Emmy Award last night for their work on The Traitors US Season 2.
Co-executive producer Simon Atkins and his sibling producer Warren Atkins were among the nominees at the 76th Primetime Emmy Award ceremony on Sunday.
The series was crowned the winner of the ‘Outstanding Reality Competition Program’ category, marking its second Emmy win.
Scottish actor Alan Cumming also picked up the gong for ‘Outstanding Host’ on the hit reality series, bringing an end to RuPaul’s eight-year winning streak for RuPaul’s Drag Race.
The critically acclaimed series sees a gang of reality TV royalty come together in a remote castle in the Scottish Highlands, where they play a game of “deceit, treachery and murder”.
The format is hugely popular in the UK too, where the series is hosted by Claudia Winkleman, and the US version has gone on to become the most viewed unscripted series in the country.
The sibling duo said: “Winning two Emmy Awards for a show as successful as The Traitors is a dream come true!
“Working in TV is not for the faint hearted but it’s an absolute privilege to be able to work with some of the most talented people in the industry and create some of the biggest shows on TV, both in front and behind the camera”.
The pair hail from Castlebar in Co Mayo and have both been working in the entertainment industry for more than 15 years.
They have worked on some of the biggest shows in the UK and the US including Strictly Come Dancing, Married At First Sight, The Voice, First Dates, The Bachelor, The Courtship, Celebs Go Dating, and I Kissed A Boy.
This summer, the duo’s entrepreneurial reality show Ready Set StartUP aired on London Live and is also available on Amazon Prime.
Described as the “ultimate entrepreneurial showdown”, it sees ten of Britain and Ireland’s most promising budding businesspeople battling it out to win a life-changing £100,000 investment.
Presented and executive produced by Simon and produced by Warren, the six-part series premiered at Cannes International Series Festival last year.
