Meadow’s previous owner wanted to rid her of fleas and decided to do so not with a suitable pest control solution, but with a highly toxic and corrosive household product. As a result, this poor cat had to live for months with terrible burns and be fed through a tube.
A cat who suffered abominable chemical burns, due to the inconsiderate act of her owner, was saved by a veterinarian and her association, Yorkshire Live reported on Monday October 16.
Reassuring news was given on Sunday October 15 by Katie Lloyd about Meadow , a cat who was in great distress. Veterinarian and founder of the Bradford Cat Watch Rescue & Sanctuary , Katie Lloyd announced on Facebook that this young 6-month-old kitten could now eat normally and that her state of health was no longer a cause for concern.
Sprayed with bleach
An outcome that seemed almost impossible a few months earlier, at the time of his rescue. Last May, in fact, she was discovered with terrible burns all over her body and an extremely painful throat.
This was the result of a serious mistake on the part of her previous owner, who sought to rid her of fleas by soaking her in bleach . Meadow’s skin was burned and bloody. She was losing hair and was unable to swallow anything. She was only a month and a half old at the time.
Supported by the Bradford Cat Watch Rescue & Sanctuary , a reception facility located in Bradford in the north of England, the young cat had been intubated and her wounds required continued care.
“Meadow has made a full recovery”
“ Meadow is fed via a nasogastric tube and her dressings are changed twice a day ,” Katie Lloyd said at the time. The latter and her team worked hard to help her survive and overcome this ordeal. Their noble efforts have borne fruit.
“ We are delighted to announce that after 6 long months, Meadow has completely recovered ,” rejoiced the veterinarian on the Facebook group dedicated to the association.
Over the past 5 weeks, the cat has been making a gradual dietary transition. She went from exclusively liquid foods to paste, then porridge and foam. Now she is eating kitten flakes.
Meadow ‘s appearance has also changed greatly; her hair grows back and she gains weight. Thanks to the dedication of the staff at Bradford Cat Watch Rescue & Sanctuary , this cat who lived through a long nightmare can now aspire to a bright future.
